LETS CELEBRATE MORE GOOD NEWS
In the previous article the focus was on hope and optimism now lets celebrate three further remarkable stories.
The first is to recognise the fact that, after months of speculation, Slovenia has been officially added to the most prestigious gastronomic map in the world. At the launch last Monday held at the iconic and dramatic Ljubljana Castle (overlooking the country’s exceptional capital city) the Michelin guide revealed the first 6 Slovenian Michelin Star restaurants - including the exceptional 2 MIchelin stars to chef Ana Ros’ restaurant Hisa Franko in the Soca Valley - one of the 50 destinations featured in ‘Wish You Were Here’ https://www.tourism-futures.com
Well done to Maja Pak (Director) and all her team at the Slovenian Tourist Board and the very fine cohort of Slovenian restaurants and chefs included in the guide. For more information please contact the STB’s Global PR Manager masa.puklavec@slovenia.info
The second highlight this week comes from Huish Park in Somerset the home of my beloved football club, Yeovil Town. The news broke yesterday that they will now be able to compete in the playoffs with the chance to get back into League Two - and this was matched by the news that the fans have raised almost £50,000 through Crowdfunding ( a % going to Yeovil Hospital) to help keep the club going through these challenging times.
Finally comes a truly remarkable story of collaboration, coordination and tenacity from Bergamo - one of the worst hit regions of Italy in the pandemic. Here in the Universita Degli Studi di Bergamo Professor Federica Burini, who is one of the contributors to the Masters program in tourism management and marketing, organised for the 25 Italian and international lecturers and Visiting / Guest Speakers to contribute chapters on the imapct of COVID-19 on tourism.
Amazingly in less than 6 weeks Federica recived 100% support, great peer reviews of the book and it will be published and presented as as a gift to the University’s post-graduate students on 1st July. What a fine legacy and a great lesson to other academic institutions. Well done to all involved.
